Continued from 6/27

Continued from 6/27 (Sat)...

After Trees of Mystery, we decided to continue down 101 South until we needed to stop and find a place to stay. I think when we left it was already 5:30ish since the park was closing.
Off the 101 there's some towns; Trinidad, Mckinleyville, they are pretty small. We stopped in Eureka to see if there were any rooms available. Stopped in a Best Western - All booked! Stopped at a Quality Inn & the guy at the front desk(Will) had 1 room available but it was a smoking room. We walked in- walked back out. Yuck! He even said it would be better for us to find something further down 101 as Eureka is ghetto. Pretty honest guy, not trying to sell his room.
So we continued further. Susie & Phil stayed in Ferndale, so we decided to check it out. Just a skip off the 101. Super cute town, great architecture in their churches & lots of Victorian homes.

This one had a cemetery in the back going up the hill.

Different church

This was a Victorian Inn on the corner of town. They had rooms but they were over $200/night.

The search continued....although would love to spend sometime back in Ferndale when the time prevails.

Off the same off ramp there was a casino up on the hill, they would surely have rooms available. We checked in there - nope sold out! They said we could be on their waiting list if people didn't check in. But, we had to wait until midnight. Yeah right! It was 9:00 and the sun was setting. They probably just wanted us to spend money in their casino. ;)

Back on the road again...
We had traveled a bit already, so now it was dark and just looking for a place to sleep. Most of you know I do not like driving at night, but I bit the bullet and continued on.
Ended up in Garberville @ 10:30pm found a room for $85. Booked it, got our stuff up to the room and went to sleep. Whew! Long day! At least now the drive tomorrow wouldn't be so long.

Xoxo
